Christine Crawford, overall second-place winner in the 2007 La Sportiva Trail Runner Trophy Series, says CrossFit training with Ryan Atkins helped her overcome an "unathletic background." "Overall" second-place winner means the field included both men and women. Great job Christina and Ryan!

I trained with Ryan twice on a trip to the Milwaukee area and thought he was an excellent trainer. Go see him if you're in the area.

Reminder: Kettlebell Sport training workshop, November 11

Wednesday, November 7, 2007

If you like kettlebells and are curious about ways to use them, this workshop with Tom Corrigan is for you. You don't have to be a gym member to sign up.

Date: Sunday, November 11
Time: 10:00 AM-1:00 PM or 2:00-5:00 PM
Place: Level 4 CrossFit Seattle
Cost: $50
Info/sign up: Email Tom Corrigan at kbfiremantom@yahoo.com

Learn how to lift kettlebells using Russian Kettlebell Sport techniques that allow more work with less strain on your joints and muscles. The class will cover many exercises and will include material that's not mainstream kettlebell DVDs. Tom emailed us today with some big news regarding this class. He says:

"Last week I competed at the KB World Championships in Miami as an amateur. It was quite an experience, but especially because I have met a TOP LEVEL Russian KB lifter who just moved to the Seattle area! His name is Mikhail Marshak, and he earned his Master of Sport rating (equivalent of being an All-American) in 2000 in Moscow, and was coached for years by a KB Sport World Champion (and 4 time Champion of Russia). He wants to 'help out' with the seminars this Sunday at Level 4 CrossFit... Of course I agreed! I want everyone to have access to the best KB training out there. You do not want to miss out on this."

You can see a photo of Tom competing on this page. He's on the right in the first photo. Zoom in--he's smiling after 230 consecutive lifts! Impressive.
